Advanced Ultrasound Technologies and Biomedical Applications

Special Issue banner

Scope

Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technology that is widely used for examination in clinical medicine and also as an important tool for research. Diagnostic ultrasound as well as ultrasound guidance for biopsy and tumor ablation have become integral in clinical instrumentation. Recently, there has been an increase in new ultrasound techniques such as high-resolution contrast enhanced ultrasound, micro-elastography techniques, 3D ultrasound, plane wave imaging, high frequency ultrasound, and ultrasound modulation. In addition, therapeutic ultrasound, such as high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), histotripsy, ultrasound drug delivery, ultrasound-enhanced immunotherapy, sonothrombolysis, and ultrasound neuromodulation, has made significant progress technically, scientifically, and clinically. This special issue invites submissions of both original research and review papers covering advanced ultrasound technologies within all aspects of advanced ultrasound.

  • The topics we specifically seek to cover include (but are not limited to):
  • 3D ultrasound
  • Blood flow Imaging
  • Contrast enhanced ultrasound
  • Elasticity imaging
  • HIFU technology
  • High frequency ultrasound
  • Histotripsy
  • Novel ultrasound transducer/arrays
  • Plane wave imaging
  • Sonothrombolysis
  • Ultrasound drug delivery
  • Ultrasound modulation
  • Ultrasound-enhanced immunotherapy
